Mizuho Americas Continues to Strengthen US Equities Group, Adding Paul Fremont

Mizuho Americas, part of Japan-based Mizuho Financial Group, has strengthened its Equities focus with the addition of Paul Fremont, who will help expand the group’s utilities coverage, according to a company statement.

Mr. Fremont will join as its newest Equity Analyst, whose mandate will include the coverage of the US utilities sector – in this role he will help contribute to the overall expansion of Mizuho’s US equity research platform, whilst based out of New York.

He will be reporting to Sheryl Skolnick, Managing Director and Director of US Equity Research at Mizuho Americas. At Mizuho, Mr. Fremont will be working in tandem with James von Riesemann, Managing Director and Equity Research Analyst. His area of focus will include larger cap and western utilities companies, serving to augment the company’s overall sector coverage.

Mr. Fremont joins Mizuho from Nexus Asset Management, having previously served as an electric utilities analyst covering a multitude of electric utilities companies and independent power producers (IPPs). He has also worked as the Managing Director covering domestic US utilities at Jefferies equity research team.

According to Matt DeSalvo, Head of US Equities at Mizuho Americas, in a recent statement on the appointment: "We continue to expand both our equity research and utilities expertise to provide optimal insight and results for clients. Paul's deep experience, knowledge and relationships within the utilities sector will provide critical support to our existing franchise."

The hire of Mr. Fremont is the latest addition to Mizuho Americas, which recently brought in Mark McLain and Peter Heller to serve as managing directors across the utilities and energy space.
