MX Picks Jim Magats as Chief Executive Officer

MX confirmed yesterday that it has chosen Jim Magats as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and the appointment will be effective from 17 August 2022.

Magats joins MX from his previous company, Paypal where he spent more than 18 years. During his time with the payments firm, he served in a varied selection of roles, including Director of Payment Solutions. In his recent post, Magats fulfilled his role as the Senior Vice President for Omni Payments Solutions at PayPal. The newly appointed CEO of MX played an important role in the global expansion of PayPal.

Sergei Gruzin Becomes Head of Business Development Asia at Tools for Brokers

Tools for Brokers recently announced that the company has named Sergei Gruzin as its Head of Business Development Asia to broaden its presence in the growing APAC region.

In an official press release shared with Finance Magnates, Tools for Brokers noted that the firm had witnessed strong growth in the H1 2022. With this appointment, Tools for Brokers is planning to meet the growing demand for new technology-driven products across the Asian markets.

Standard Chartered Hires Andy Ross as Global Head of Prime Brokerage

Finance Magnates has learned that Andy Ross recently became the new Global Head Prime Brokerage at Standard Chartered Bank. According to his LinkedIn profile, he was onboarded to the firm after working for over a year at the London Stock Exchange Group in the Capital Markets management team.

CurveGlobal Limited employed Ross as the CEO between 2016 and 2022. He is a financial markets veteran who worked for over 16 years at Morgan Stanley since 2007, first as an Executive Director, and then he was promoted to Managing Director and European Head of OTC Clearing.

Credit Suisse Names Ulrich Körner as CEO; Q2 Losses Deepen to $1.6B

Credit Suisse confirmed on Wednesday the appointment of Ulrich Körner as the new Group Chief Executive Officer, effective from August 1. He will replace Thomas Gottstein under whose leadership the bank has struggled with its need to recover from a series of scandals.

Currently, Körner is leading the asset management division at Credit Suisse after rejoining the bank in April 2021. Also, he served Credit Suisse in several roles, including as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the financial services unit and the CEO of Switzerland business.

Mastercard Hires Ellen Jackowski as Chief Sustainability Officer

Mastercard has picked Ellen Jackowski as the new Chief Sustainability Officer to accelerate the integration of its ESG strategy into the organization.

In an official announcement, Mastercard highlighted a significant jump in the company’s ESG efforts. The company is planning to utilize Jackowski’s broad experience in climate action, human rights and digital equity for its growth.

Robert van Eyden Joins IG Markets South Africa as CEO

IG Markets South Africa (IGMSA) has appointed Robert J. van Eyden as the new Chief Executive Officer.

As noted in a Linkedin update by van Eyden, van Eyden joined the South African entity of the London-headquartered broker earlier this month. “I'm pleased to announce that I will assume the role of CEO,” he wrote in a social media post.

He brings almost three decades of financial industry experience to his new post. He began his career in academia before switching to corporate roles.

Vivian Zhou Joins Mastercard as Corporate Treasurer

Mastercard announced the appointment of Vivian Zhou as the company’s Corporate Treasurer, yesterday. The appointment of Zhou will be effective from 15 August 2022.

The details released by Mastercard show that Zhou is succeeding Alfred Kibe. Mastercard noted that Kibe will move on to the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the North American region. Kibe has been serving Mastercard for more than six years.

Zhou joins Mastercard from American Express where she spent over 16 years in different senior positions. She held a diverse range of roles at American Express, including Head of Global Capital Markets, Head of Balance Sheet Strategy & Planning and Senior Vice President.

State Street Picks Brenda Tsai as Global Chief Marketing Officer

State Street has picked Brenda Tsai as the company’s new Global Chief Marketing Officer.

Tsai joins State Street from DXC Technology where she served as the Chief Marketing and Communication Officer for more than one year. In her new role, Tsai plans to accelerate State Street’s marketing and branding activities. She will direct the company’s global marketing team.

In Tsai's broad but extensive professional career, she has worked with many of the biggest companies in the world, including giants like BNY Mellon, GE and FactSet. At GE, Tsai fulfilled the role of Global Commercial Leader, and then later, the newly appointed Global CMO at State Street served as the Global Head of Marketing at FactSet for almost three years.
