NEM, a blockchain platform, announced on Tuesday that it will be holding its 2018 NEM Council Elections on December 7, 2018, where the NEM Foundation community can select new Executive Committee (ExCo) and Council Members.

The elections will be held through NEM’s Blockchain platform, which verifies membership by using a cryptographically secured identification engine. To be able to vote in the elections, individuals need to become members of the NEM Foundation.

Application to Become a NEM Foundation Member Closes Soon

To achieve this, it is necessary to go through an application and approval process, which can be found on the company’s website. According to the statement, the deadline to become a member to vote in the elections is tomorrow - Wednesday, November 7, 2018.

The poll for the elections will be published on December 3, 2018, and the results will be made public with every vote verifiable on the NEM public blockchain. The poll will then be closed for an extraordinary meeting, which is hosted by the NEM.io Foundation. Here an audit will be conducted, and after this, the newly elected officers will be announced.

Commenting on the results, Steve Li, the Head of China at NEM, said: “NEM.io Foundation has been created to serve the community, now it’s the time for the community to choose their committee members. We encourage members to cast their votes if they want a say in how the Company operates going forward.”

The NEM Council is responsible for discussing the needs of both the NEM Foundation and the NEM technology platform. The Council allows the NEM Foundation to decide on important issues regarding its sustainability and future.
