OANDA, a retail broker with operations around the world, has promoted its long-time employee John Murphy as the company’s Head of the United Kingdom. Along with his current role, Murphy will continue to be the broker’s Global Head of retail sales.

He took over the new responsibilities earlier this month, according to his Linkedin profile.

Murphy is a seasoned expert in the Forex trading industry with over a decade of experience working with several forex brokers. His experiences are primarily in sales.

He joined OANDA in 2014 as the broker’s retail sales team lead for the EMEA region and was later promoted to Head of sales for that region. He assumed the position of OANDA’s Global Head of Retail Sales at the beginning of 2020 and led the broker throughout the retail trading frenzy. He is overseeing OANDA’s retail sales across all markets the broker is operating: North America, UK, Europe, Singapore, Australia and emerging markets (LATAM, Africa, ASEAN).

Before OANDA, Murphy spent almost four years at the UK unit of Alpari as a Senior Sales Associate for forex and derivatives. He started his career in the forex industry in 2007 at FXCM, another well-known FX and CFDs broker, and spent three years there as a Sales Executive.

OANDA's Expansion

Meanwhile, OANDA is focusing on significant development in its business around the world. The broker acquired Poland-based TMS Brokers earlier this year to further strengthen its grip over the European trading market.

Murphy’s promotion came only a month after OANDA appointed TMS CEO, Marcin Niewiadomski as the broker’s Head of Europe, Finance Magnates reported.

Apart from its usual trading services, the broker launched an international money transfer service to companies in North America, enabling corporate clients to make FX Payments .
