OANDA, a major global retail trading company, has promoted Mark Chesterman to Chief Risk Officer. He was previously the Head of Trading with the brokerage firm.
Chesterman joined OANDA in November 2019. He is based in the United Kingdom and has already taken over the new role and responsibilities.
He is a financial industry expert with solid experience in the trading and forex derivatives sector. He describes himself as someone with “a background in strategy, business management, trading, and product development.” Additionally, he led teams in both B2B and B2C space, targeting a global client base.
Moreover, his formal educational background is around the same industry. He is a graduate of the University of York and later obtained a Master’s degree in finance from London Business School. On top of that, he completed an MBA from London Business School, specializing in strategy and entrepreneurship.
Impressive Career in FX
Before joining OANDA, Chesterman spent ten months at Stater Global Markets as the Chief Operating Officer.
However, his most prominent industry presence was with IG Group, where he spent almost ten years. He joined the broker as the Chief FX Dealer in September 2008. In addition, he climbed the corporate ladder of the broker, becoming Head of Futures and FX and then Global Business Development Officer. He parted with the London-based giant as the Chief Operating Officer of IG Institutional.
Meanwhile, OANDA is strengthening its leadership team for a while. The broker onboarded Michael Aagaard, a longtime Saxo Bank executive, as the Head of Forex Trading Business earlier this year, Finance Magnates reported.
