Finance Magnates has learned that Philip Waters has been promoted to Head of APAC and Emerging Markets at OANDA, a major global retail trading firm. According to an update on LinkedIn, he has been working at the firm as Head of Emerging Markets for over two years.
He held the same role while working at IG Singapore between 2019 and 2020. Also, Waters was employed by IG for over eight years since 2010, when he began working as a Credit Risk Officer. Between 2011 and 2014, he worked as a Credit Risk Supervisor for the broker.
Moreover, Waters was in charge of the UK and Australia’s regions as Credit Risk Manager between 2014 and 2016, and afterwards, he was promoted to Commercial Executive, where he worked for over one year. In 2017, Waters was promoted to Head of Emerging Markets, where he was responsible for maximizing the revenue generated from countries where the firm did not have a physical presence.
Prior to joining IG, he worked as a Credit Advisor for Lloyds TSB. According to his educational background, Waters earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management from the University of Brighton.

Recent OANDA Executive Moves
Today, OANDA promoted Mark Chesterman to Chief Risk Officer. He was previously the Head of Trading with the brokerage firm. Chesterman joined OANDA in November 2019. He is based in the United Kingdom and has already taken over the new role and responsibilities.
He is a financial industry expert with solid experience in the trading and forex derivatives sector. He describes himself as someone with “a background in strategy, business management, trading and product development.” Additionally, he led B2B and B2C teams, targeting a global client base.
