Australian FX broker Pepperstone has appointed Tony Gruebner, who has a colorful career across different industries, as its newest Chief Marketing Officer, with immediate effect. Meagan Nies, who spent the past three years as Pepperstone's Head of Marketing, has apparently parted ways with the company.
Mr. Gruebner will be tasked with managing the group’s global marketing capabilities based out of Melbourne. His mandate will focus on bolstering the firm’s brand strategy, its product marketing efforts, corporate communications, and digital marketing efforts.
Tony describes himself as a data-driven marketing executive with a passion for digital transformation, but he has no previous expertise within the FX industry. He steps into the position with over 15 years of additional experience in the marketing communication space, with the majority of his time being dedicated to online sportsbook and casino Sportsbet.
Additionally, his career encompasses various stops at Panasonic New Zealand, Treasury Holdings Limited and computer software firm, Lyris.
Beyond strengthening its position in its homeland, Pepperstone has been actively growing abroad. Most recently, the company has secured financial services licenses in Dubai and Germany, and also made its entry into the Kenyan forex trading market, which coincides with Pepperstone’s 10th year of operations.
Mr. Gruebner replaces Meagan Nies as Pepperstone’s marketing officer. According to her LinkedIn profile, Meagan has been reassigned within the FX broker in September, ending a two-year and nine-month tenure. She originally joined Pepperstone’s Australian business in early 2018, responsible for leading global marketing and brand activity to grow awareness, Acquisition and retention.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Nies spent more than nine years with IG Australia. During this long stint, she worked her way up through several senior roles within the firm, culminating with the position of Head of Brand Marketing APAC. Meagan was a mainstay at the UK spread better, having led the marketing efforts for the IG brand in Australia, Singapore and New Zealand, for both English and Chinese speaking target markets.
