With reliable news becoming increasingly important in the current turbulent geopolitical environment, Refinitiv has created a new role - Head of News Performance, and has appointed Richard Mably to the position, the company announced this Tuesday.
The new position will allow the market data provider to enhance the value of its news coverage, with the ultimate aim to power and advance the financial community, the company said in its statement today.

Mably will be leading this initiative. He brings journalistic and editorial experience to the role, having spent 25 years at Reuters, where he held a number of roles, including EMEA editor and global editor for financial markets and commodities. During his career, he has also worked at AP-Dow Jones and Platts.
Commenting on the new position, David Craig, CEO of Refinitiv, said: “At a time of global trade wars and critical elections shaped by intense political discourse, trusted news is more important to the financial community than ever before.

Refinitiv aims to further its reach as a news distributor
Refinitiv is a large news distributor to the financial community. It has 40,000 customers in approximately 190 countries. By appointing Mably to his new position, the financial markets data company aims to enhance its role as a distributor of news in the space.
