Ripple , a provider of financial settlement solutions, has appointed Payments veteran, Marcus Treacher as its newest Global Head of Strategic Accounts with immediate effect, according to a Ripple statement.

Mr. Treacher joins Ripple after garnering more than three decades of experience in the transaction banking and payments space, including a lengthy stint at HSBC. In his new role as the Global Head of Strategic Accounts at Ripple, Mr. Treacher will be based out of the group’s London headquarters, where he will work to implement and commercialize Ripple’s distributed financial technology on a global scale.

He joins Ripple from HSBC, having worked there in a variety of senior level roles over the past few years. Most recently he held the position of Head of Innovation, Global Payments & Cash Management, as well as its Global Head of eCommerce & Digital Channels and Global Head of Client Experience, dating back to 2009.

Additional stops also include Citi, where he served as its Head of eChannels and IT Executive, both relegated to the EMEA region, according to information made public on his Linkedin profile. He has also been an active member of SWIFT’s Global Board since 2010.
