Saxo Markets has broadened its Asia-Pacific team by hiring Charu Chanana as a Market Strategist, based in Singapore. She has joined a three-strong market strategist team of the broker in the region, which include Jessica Amir in Sydney and Redmond Wong in Hong Kong.

Chanana will report directly to Steen Jakobsen, Saxo Group’s Chief Economist and Chief Investment Officer.

Her focus in the role will be on delivering thematic-based investment strategies. She will serve global clients who are looking for investments in macro themes, forex , commodities and equities in markets like Southeast Asia, Japan, India and the US.

“As Saxo serves a growing client base that both does active trading as well as longer-term investing, it is an honour to be given this responsibility to enhance their experience at Saxo,” Chanana said in a statement.

In addition, the hiring of the economists was fueled by Saxo’s increasing client demand for market analysis.

As Jakobsen pointed out: “We have seen an increase in demand for timely and relevant market analysis from our growing pool of clients in the Asia Pacific.”

An Experienced Economist

She is an experienced professional and brings ten years of industry experience to her new role. She worked with Continuum Economics for almost seven years as a Lead Economist for Asia before joining Saxo.

She started her career with Evalueserve as a Research Lead and then moved to CRISIL Global Research & Analytics, where she was a Lead Analyst. Both of those positions were based in India.

“As we welcome more clients to Saxo in the region, we can now provide them with more timely, relevant and actionable market insights and macro trading ideas with a regional flavour and local lens, in addition to the great insights from our global SaxoStrats team, including asset class champions such as Ole Hansen in commodities, John Hardy in FX and Peter Garnry in equities,” said the CEO of APAC at Saxo Markets, Adam Reynolds.
