Saxo Capital Markets HK Limited announced on Wednesday the appointment of Redmond Wong as a Market Strategist. With three decades of experience in the financial industry, he will reinforce the broker’s research ability in the region.
He will be responsible for churning the Danish broker’s global investment strategy and generating Hong Kong and mainland China-focused research. Additionally, he will provide insights into different asset classes and tradable instruments.
“Over the last 30 years, I’ve become increasingly passionate about helping investors understand what drives markets, and how they can maximize the return on their investments,” Wong said in a statement.
A Finance Industry Veteran
Wong’s past experience was with investment banks, private banks and hedge funds with roles ranging from proprietary trading to portfolio management and hedge fund management.
He started as a bond trader and then covered central banks and other financial institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. Moreover, he worked as a senior portfolio manager at BNP Paribas Private Bank in Hong Kong.
At Saxo, he will report directly to Steen Jakobsen, the group’s Chief Economist and Chief Investment Strategist, and also to Richard Douglas, Saxo’s Hong Kong CEO.
“Saxo’s vision is to enable people to fulfil their financial aspirations and make an impact,” said Douglas. “With Wong’s expertise, we further enhanced our strategist team's coverage as Hong Kong and the mainland China markets both attract more attention and interest from investors all over the world.”
Saxo Bank recently posted its financials for 2021. Its profits for the year remained flat at DKK 755 million, but there was a marginal increase of 4.6 percent in its revenue that touched DKK 4.23 billion.
