In his new role as the Global Head of Commodities and Financial Markets at Standard Chartered, Mr. Belentepe will be based out of the group’s Singapore branch, reporting to Jonathan Paul, Standard Chartered’s Global Head of Financial Markets. The move is the latest hire at Standard Chartered that has seen a flow of talent into Asia from Europe, namely the UK, which has suffered an exodus of personnel in recent months.
Mr. Belentepe joins Standard Chartered from Barclays, having worked in a number of senior level roles since joining the company in 2010. Since then he has worked as its Managing Director, Global Head of Metals Trading, and most recently as its Global Head of Commodities, Non Core Division, both based out of London.
Prior to Barclays, he also founded and worked as the Chief Investment Officer of Corton Capital Management LLC, with additional stints at Credit Suisse and Citi, specializing in metals and foreign Exchange (FX), part of a lengthy career extending back to 1993, according to information made public on his Linkedin profile.
