Standard Chartered has hired Eric Shaffer as Executive Director of its FX Options division. In his new role, Shaffer will be based in New York, working on formulating thematic research and investment recommendations for G10 and EM Asia currencies, per an FXWeek report.

Eric started the role in September 2017, joining Standard Chartered from Citi where he had worked for his entire career, most recently the similar role of director and FX options trader. He joined Citi in 2004 and was also based in New York. Overall, he spent over thirteen years in the FX industry in multiple senior roles.
His tenure has also seen him focus on FX options business where, among other roles, he was in charge of trading across the Euro and Canada Options Book from 2015 to 2017, according to information made public on his Linkedin profile.
The move is designed to help drive the British bank’s global FX business, part of a broader shift by the lender in the FX space.
In his new capacity, Shaffer will take an increased leadership role with responsibilities across all FX options products, and with teams across the bank to deepen client relationships and accelerate the growth of Standard Chartered’s FX business.
