Stater Global Markets, an institutional prime of prime brokerage, announced this morning that it has added Ayhan Gurcuoglu to its team. At the London-based firm, he will be the Regional Sales Manager for Turkey.
Gurcuoglu joins Stater Global Markets with more than 18 years worth of experience in Turkey’s financial markets. Most recently, he worked at derivatives broker Sucden Financial where he was also the Regional Manager for Turkey for three years.
Prior to working at Sucden, Gurcuoglu worked at Sanko Securities from January 2011 until January 2015. He originally started working for the firm as a Dealer, until 2014 when he was promoted to Foreign Markets Assistant Manager. In this role, he helped build the company’s Forex and contract for difference (CFD) departments.
During his career, Gurcuoglu has also worked at Tera Brokers and from 2003 until 2005 at Raymond James, which at the time was one of the leading brokerage houses in Turkey. From 1997 until 2001 he attended the University of Istanbul, where he studied Economics.
Commenting on the appointment, Ramy Soliman, the CEO of Stater Global Markets said: “Turkey was a key market for me when I was at Citi and is an important region for Stater. We are therefore delighted to welcome Ayhan to our team. Ayhan is highly respected by banks and brokers in the region and has an in-depth understanding of their requirements and business culture. I believe we will benefit significantly from his experience and contacts.”
Stater Global Markets Continues to Bolster Its Sales Team
In the past month, Stater Global Markets has been expanding its sales team, with Gurcuoglu’s position being the latest in three newly created sales roles announced by the broker. This is part of the firm’s global expansion plans.
The latest additions to the company include Max Moriarty - who was the first member to be added to Stater Global Markets’ sales team at the beginning of September. In his new role, Moriarty is focusing on the institutional market in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia regions.
In addition, Michael Davies also joined the broker last week as Global Head of Sales. Davies also joins Stater Global Markets from Sucden Financial where he was Head of eFX Sales for the EMEA region.
Speaking on his new position, Gurcuoglu adds: “I was very excited when Ramy approached me about this role. The technical infrastructure which is in place at Stater and the calibre of the team makes it an exciting company to work for, with a very promising future. From my network, I believe there is a lot of business potential for Stater in Turkey, and I feel confident that Stater’s bespoke solutions and transparency meet the exact needs of brokers and banks in the region.”
