SWIFT, a global provider of secure financial messaging services, today announced the appointment of Marc Hofmann as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), reinforcing SWIFT’s IT function and solid security record.

Hofmann joins SWIFT from Deutsche Bank where over the past 8 years he held various CISO roles, most recently as Regional Chief Information Security Officer for the UK and Ireland.

At Deutsche Bank, Hofmann oversaw a global IT security team, played a leading role in designing the bank’s information security setup, was Vice Chairman of the Group Information Security Committee and built an effective working relationship with regulators.

Hofmann has more than 20 years’ experience in security and Risk Management . Prior to working at Deutsche Bank, Hofmann held a number of IT security roles, including at Ernst & Young.

Marc’s IT security experience and his perspective from a SWIFT user institution are of great value to SWIFT.

Hofmann’s tenure will commence on 1 November when he will be tasked with leading the Global Security team. Together with SWIFT’s Security Operations, he will oversee the development and implementation of SWIFT’s Cybersecurity Roadmap.

Hofmann will report to Chief Technology Officer Craig Young and he will work closely with Alain Desausoi who will serve as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer in the new organisation.
