TMX Group has brought in Nick Thadaney, appointing him as its newest Chief Executive of Global Equity Capital Markets (ECM), according to a TMX Group statement.

Earlier this week, Etienne Phaneuf was promoted to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ITG Canada Corporation, replacing the outgoing Mr. Thadaney. The succession plan at ITG Canada was made public virtually simultaneously with the new appointment by Mr. Thadaney.

In his new role as TMX Group’s Chief Executive – ECM, Mr. Thadaney will be responsible for the group’s equity listings and trading activity. The appointment comes on the heels of Kevan Cowen’s departure earlier this week, who filled a void in the ECM group.

Despite the move, Mr. Thadaney is slated to begin his new role only on September 1, 2015 – he will be reporting to TMX Group CEO Lou Eccleston.

Mr. Thadaney has served as the Head of ITG Canada since 2005, having joined ITG as Director of Sales in Canada in 2000. Prior to landing at ITG, he also worked as the Vice President and Head of Business Development & International Equities at TD Securities – additional stops include C.T. Securities and First Canada Securities International.

According to Mr. Eccleston in a recent statement on the hire, “TMX Group has begun an essential evolution to become a technology-driven solutions provider that puts clients first.”

TMX Group Inc. owns and operates a series of exchanges in Canada, including the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), and the TSX Venture Exchange , the Montreal Exchange, the Natural Gas Exchange, and the Boston Options Exchange. The group handles equities, listings and a variety of other trading across its comprehensive group of platforms.
