Leaked documents point to Twitter and Fancy Ecommerce partnership

Leaked documents show Twitter may be moving into Ecommerce with Fancy.

We recently reported on rumors of social micro-blogging site Twitter being in the final stages of a partnership with payment Startup Stripe. According to leaked documents from Twitter the 232 million user filled social network are in fact planning on incorporating online purchases through its platform. The documents show incorporating product listings from Ecommerce platform Fancy. Coincidentally, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, serves as a board member for Fancy.

The documents show the full process of purchasing through Twitter posts with product photos coupled with a “buy with Fancy” button. Fancy, besides being an Ecommerce platform, is a social website. It is based off following users, and seeing what they liked and purchased through the website. While the leaked documents were pulled from most online outlets, exactly how the service is planned to work in not available.

This is not Twitter’s first foray into Ecommerce. Just last year, in cooperation with American Express introduced “pay with Twitter”. The feature allowed for users to purchase Xbox game consoles, Amazon Kindles, and AmEx gift cards directly from Twitter's mobile application. Twitter also partnered with Starbucks for “Tweet-a-coffee” and let users tweet $5 Starbucks gift cards to one another.

Neither Fancy nor Twitter have commented on the allegations of a partnership, much in similar to the story with Stripe. Whether the Fancy or Stripe partnerships come to fruition, the rumors strongly point an Ecommerce future for Twitter.
