Microsoft to strengthen Ecommerce presence with Vantiv partnership

Microsoft seems to be expanding its Mcommerce presence with a partnership with payment service provider Vantiv.

Both Microsoft and Vantiv announced the partnership yesterday at the National Retail Federation's Annual Convention (NRF Big Show). The new venture will see Microsoft building and improving off of their Dynamics' POS leadership and reseller network, and combining it with Vantivโ€™s omni-channel payment platform.

"Vantiv is a leader in helping retailers implement omni-channel Payments solutions, and we are pleased to partner with them to help businesses of all sizes create the personal, differentiated interactions that seamlessly connect them to their customers. Vantiv's innovative, scalable integrated payment processing services and technology are a great addition to the Microsoft Dynamics business solution offering," said Wayne Morris, corporate vice president at Microsoft Business Solutions.

The deal between Microsoft and Vantiv results in Microsoft developing the new versions of their merchant and retail solutions, while Vantiv will market and sell the mPOS stations housing Microsoftโ€™s platform. Vantiv will process the payments made from these station through their omni-channel payment platform. mPOS stations are becoming more common with brick and mortar establishments, and help Bridge the gap between Ecommerce and physical retail by processing payments of mobile tablet based terminals. These terminals provide in addition to card swiping and NFC capabilities, business management tools like inventory management an invoicing.

"Our partnership with Microsoft is a great example of how Vantiv is extending payment and POS innovation to our merchant partners," "Microsoft Dynamics' POS leadership and reseller network combined with Vantiv's omni-channel payments platform and vast distribution channels enable an entirely new scale of mobile payment solutions, delivering a true 360 degree experience to mid-market and enterprise merchants across any vertical." said Elizabeth Rector, senior vice president of Ecommerce and mobile at Vantiv, at the NRF convention.

It is not surprising that Microsoft is looking to strengthen their Ecommerce presence. Other tech giants like Google and Apple are becoming more noticeable in the Ecommerce and mPOS landscape, a place Microsoft simply does not standout.
