A new report by world leading mobile analyst firm, Juniper Research, sets the forecast in mobile gambling for the next 5 years.
The “Casinos, Lotteries & betting 2013-2018” report shows a growth of 100 million users in the next 5 years.
Juniper did show impressive numbers for 2013, with 64 million people to place a sports-bet, enter a mobile casino, or purchase a lottery ticket via a mobile device. That number is expected to grow by 100 million users by the end of 2018, resulting in over more than 164 million mobile gamblers.
The source of the estimated increase is from North America. Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey all offer online gambling with successful results. It is believed more states will follow suit and legalize gaming, or the notion of interstate gambling will become a reality. With the growth of mobile acceptance, it would not be surprising to see casinos and games available on smartphones and tablets.
The report states that the majority of these mobile users will shift from using a PC. The idea is clear when considering the ability to place online sports bets when either being at the game, or watching a live broadcast.
“Mobile can frequently provide a more immersive and convenient gambling experience than a desktop PC or laptop. As a result of this, gambling operators have been required to shift the nature of their organization away from legacy services such as telephone betting towards becoming a more mobile-oriented company, with the aim of achieving over half of their online revenues from mobile in the next 1-3 years.” Report author, Siân Rowlands stated.
With the rise in mobile use in general, and more users trusting their smartphones and tablets top place Payments it is not shocking to think that if broadly made available, mobile gambling will rise as well.
