NZ ISP to accept payments in Bitcoin

New Zealand based internet service provider Slingshot is now offering its customers the option to pay for their broadband internet connection using Bitcoin .

Slingshot’s view is to connect people to the internet of things using a currency designed for the internet. The new payment option, according to Slingshot’s General Manger Taryn Hamilton, should appeal to the ever growing Bitcoin user-base.

"We're a web company, so it seems fitting to accept the world's premier web currency," Hamilton said.

BitPay will be the payment service provider behind Slingshot’s new Bitcoin support, offering real time conversions to FIAT. Payments will be taken at the current Bitcoin to NZ$ exchange rate.

Slingshot joins over 30,000 businesses accepting the digital currency around the globe. BTC accepting companies which include Overstock.com, WordPress, Virgin Galactic, Dish, and Fiverr. According to Hamilton, sling is the largest New Zealand company to accept payment in Bitcoin.

In other Bitcoin related news, The National Bank of Russia is looking to legalize the cryptocurrency to be used as a regulated and recognized form of payment.
