Square releases "Square Cash" money request app to the general public

Mobile payment Startup Square has released the finalized version of its fund sending and requesting application โ€œSquare Cashโ€.

The application, available for iOS and Android smartphones allows users to send and request funds to others, whether they are a Cash user or not. Not only is the service available through the mobile application, but Square Cash can also send and request money via email, making it practically available for any device capable of sending and receiving emails.

Square Cash works by linking a debit or credit card for sending funds and linking a bank account to receive funds. Users are not required to sign up for Square to utilize the service. However linking a card and bank account is necessary to complete a transaction. The funds transferred are not held in any sort of account balance and are deposited directly into the recipientโ€™s bank account.

Fund requests can also be sent to groups of recipients, with the ability for the sender to check on the amount due from those requested.

Square Cash was made available to select beta testers back in October 2013 and is now available to the general public. Currently the service is available to US residents only, and is available on the Apple AppStore and Google Play Store
