UK: 24,000 daily mobile sales in June

A new benchmark report by Affiliate Window shows a bump in Mcommerce usage in the UK this last June.

According to Affiliate Window’s numbers, a daily average of 24,000 Ecommerce sales originated from mobile devices in the UK last month. Sales from tablets fared far better than smartphones, showing a daily average of 15,350 tablet sales as opposed to 8,650 smartphone sales. Sales originating from mobile devices accounted for a total of 30.86% of all Ecommerce sales in June, compared to 30.59% in May

Affiliate Window also reported on Ecommerce traffic sources, with mobile devices showing another improvement. A total of 35.58% of all Ecommerce traffic originated from mobile devices, an increase of over 1% than traffic in May which ended in 34.32%. In traffic sources smartphones fared slightly better than tablets with an 18% share in June, as opposed to 17.36% in May.

Even with higher numbers in June, the average shopping cart amount dropped slightly. Mobile shopping carts averaged £67.98 in June with May returning an average of £70.45.

As expected when observing Mcommerce by mobile OS, Android devices fared less than iOS smartphones and tablets, with Android smartphones accounting for only 25.21% of mobile traffic and 25.14% of mobile sales. Android tablets fared better than their pocket-sized counterparts when it came to traffic bringing in 28.42% of mobile traffic, with tablet sales accounting for a disappointing 16.24%.

Tablets did however convert more shopper than smartphones with a 6.28% conversion rate. Smartphones conversions averaged at 3.03%.

As always the report pointed out iOS devices as higher convertors than Android devices. While no exact figures were provided, iPads and iPhones also average out higher shopping cart amounts than Android smartphones and tablets.
