GTN, a fintech company offering trading solutions, has partnered with Revolut to launch bond trading for EEA customers on the Revolut app. Announced today (Tuesday), Revolut customers can already trade bonds directly via the invest section of the app.
Revolut Partners with GTN
The press release shared with Finance Magnates detailed that Revolut is leveraging GTN's instant click-to-trade functionality via its FIX and REST APIs to bring bond trading to its customers.
“Our API allows Revolut to make investing in bonds as easy as investing in stocks,” said Ankit Shah, Global Head of Fintech at GTN. “The fractionalisation of bonds eliminates the traditional barriers of high minimum investments and other related complexities, transforming how people build wealth.”
Last month, Thailand’s Finansia Syrus Securities collaborated with GTN to enhance its trading platform and offer fractional trading capabilities to all Thais, enabling them to participate in a diverse range of assets across 29 global markets. Earlier this year, GTN also onboarded Damian Bunce as the CEO of its operations in the Middle East.
The Massive Bond Trading Market
The global bond market is worth $100 trillion; however, it is not easily accessible to retail investors. The partnership between GTN and Revolut aims to make these bonds accessible to retail traders with an initial investment of only €100.
Headquartered in the United Kingdom, Revolut has emerged as one of the largest fintechs in Europe. Although it operates as a payment institution in its home country, it has a banking licence in the European Union. It also gained a banking licence in Mexico and payments authorisation in India. The platform now has over 40 million users globally.
Revolut ended 2022 with a total revenue of $1.1 billion, an increase of 45 percent from the previous year. In 2023, it expects this figure to reach $2 billion. Furthermore, internally, it is aiming to generate about £300 million (approximately $370 million) from advertising by 2026.
"This is yet another step in Revolut’s mission to build an all-in-one investment platform that is multi-asset class, has coverage across EEA markets, and caters to both advanced and beginner users,” Rolandas Juteika, Head of Wealth and Trading (EEA) at Revolut, said on the latest partnership with GTN. “Bonds provide an excellent opportunity for investors to diversify their portfolios with fixed income.”
