Announced in May during the iFX EXPO as a beta product, MetaQuotes has fully launched its VPS offering this week for MetaTrader 4. Part of Build 735 for MT4, users will now have the ability to register a virtual server directly from their Account Navigator window. The offering uses infrastructure from Webzilla, which has been increasing its presence in the Forex and binary options industry over the past year.
Available at $10 a month, the MT4 VPS service is a low cost solution for traders desiring 24/5 uptime of their EA automated strategies. Webzilla offers users server locations around the world to provide decreased latency of VPS to broker servers. However, the product shouldn’t be confused with more expensive VPS co-location products which are targeted at low latency traders.
Those offerings provide near and often zero proximity Hosting with brokers while also improving performance by operating servers optimized for trading execution speed. That doesn’t mean that the Webzilla/Metaquotes collaboration isn’t robust, as it fills the gap of providing a low cost service for the scores of casual traders operating EAs of which aren’t high frequency trading strategies.
Following the release of Build 735 and the VPS, we are already seeing brokers begin to market the new product to their clients. Similar to cross promotions with VPS providers where brokers often offer clients reduced or free virtual servers to active customers, we expect many firms will use a similar subsidized marketing pitch to EA customers who sign up to use the MT4 VPS service from Webzilla.
