Retail Forex broker Alpari has just reported its monthly trading volumes for April 2018, which took another step forward, ultimately adding to the March’s strong performance, according to a corporate statement.
As the calendar flipped to the second quarter, Alpari disclosed that a total of $138 billion was traded in the first month of Q2 2018, which represents a move higher over a yearly timeframe, as volumes jumped 43 percent month-over-month from $95.6 billion in April 2017. However, the figure is nearly 6 percent lower when compared with its equivalent of March 2018.
The continued rebound highlights the fact that the broker has been able to capitalize on the healthy bouts of Volatility that have been rocking financial markets in the busiest April in several years.
The sharp shift in exchange rates destabilizes emerging economies and threatens trade talks
In connection with the increased volatility of the US dollar, which leaped to its highest levels this year against a basket of currencies, as well as concerns over US-China trade war, trading on safe-haven instruments enjoyed far greater popularity among Alpari’s clients in the previous month.
Specifically, the turnover of XAUUSD increased 10 percent month-over-month, while GBPJPY currency pair ticked up by 17 percent in April 2018.
Last month, the company reported increased levels of trading turnover in the first quarter of 2018. Overall, the quarterly turnover totals exceeded $429.0 billion over this period. The climb in volumes has also coincided with a rise of clients in the Asia-Pacific (APAC), region, which secured a strong growth on a yearly basis.
