Axi (previously AxiTrader), an Australia-headquartered forex and contract for differences (CFDs) broker, looks to be expanding its presence in the Latin American markets with its latest sports sponsorship deal with the Brazilian football club, Esporte Clube Bahia.
Axi Expands Sports Sponsorship Portfolio
Under the agreement, the broker has gained the status of an Official Online Trading Partner of the football club. However, neither the sports club nor the broker revealed the financials of the deal or detailed the scope of it.
"We are thrilled about for our new partnership with Axi," said Guilherme Bellintani, the President at Bahia. "With over 15 years of expertise as a Forex and CFD broker, Axi has proven itself a proven track record across for its innovation and dependability, credibility, and integrity. We look forward to a great collaboration and to working together to take both the club and Axi to the next level."
Football is the most popular sport in Brazil, a country that saw the rise of many top football players. Esporte Clube Bahia, founded in 1991 in the capital of the Brazilian state of Bahia, plays in the top domestic league. The club's home turf, Arena Fonte Nova, has a capacity of about 48,000. At the same time, it has a substantial reach on social media, with 1 million followers on Instagram and 1.1 million followers on Facebook.
New Ownership
The partnership came a day after Bahia joined the City Football Group, which controls thirteen clubs, including Manchester City, a top English football club. City Football Group now holds 90 percent of Salvador-based Bahia.
Axi already had an existing sponsorship deal in place with Manchester City. Initially, the broker partnered with the top English club in September 2020, which coincided with its branding overhaul. Recently, the two expanded the deal to expand the broker's sponsorship rights to include Manchester City women's team.
"This new partnership with Esporte Clube Bahia is an exciting addition to our sponsorship portfolio, and one that compliments the global nature of our Man City relationship, allowing us to focus on a region that's been important to us for some time, and continues to grow," Louis Cooper, Axi's Chief Commercial Officer, said.
"Our shared ambition and commitment to excellence makes us ideal partners."
