City Index, a London-headquartered CFDs and forex trading platform, has inked a sponsorship deal with an Aussie rugby team, Sydney Roosters to strengthen its brand in the country.

Announced on Tuesday, the broker has signed a three-year deal with the sports team and will sponsor both NRL and NRLW programs, which are for men and women teams, respectively.

Strong Presence on the Field

According to the agreement, City Index has become a Platinum Partner of the rugby team, and its logo will appear on the lower back of the Roosters NRL jersey as well as on the sternum of the NRLW jersey.

“Our Platinum Partners are all industry leaders in their own right, and we are delighted to welcome City Index to our portfolio for both the Roosters’ NRL and NRLW programs for the next three years,” the Roosters COO, Jarrod Johnstone said in a statement.

Though the logo of the broker will start featuring on the NRL training apparel and playing jerseys with immediate effect, it will appear on the NRLW training apparel and playing jerseys from the 2022 rugby season.

“We are excited to be partnering with one of the oldest and most successful clubs in Australia,” said Tom Brown, City Index’s Head of Australia.

“The Roosters consistently demonstrate leadership, professionalism, innovation and a passion for success, many of the beliefs and values that drive us, City Index, as a company. It’s a great time to be a part of the club and an exciting time for our business as we continue to grow.”

Meanwhile, brokers around the world are looking at sports sponsorships as a very effective way to promote their brand. A few companies like eToro and IC Markets are spending extensively to put their brands in sports arenas and have partnered with several sports teams.
