CMC Markets (LON: CMCX), a London-headquartered trading company with a global presence, has extended its sponsorship deal with New Zealand’s professional rugby team, Blues, for another three years.

The two initially inked the partnership deal in February 2021 for two seasons and the three-year extension came as the original agreement ended.

Under the renewed deal, CMC Markets continues to be Blues’ official trading partner until 2025. Further, the CMC logo will be featured on the players’ shorts and other official team apparel, along with the broker’s brand signage at Eden Park stadium.

“CMC Markets is a globally leading and pioneering trading business with a great local team who believe in the power of sport and investing in the community,” said the Chief Executive Officer of Blues, Andrew Hore.

“We are both highly competitive and aspirational organizations, and we look forward to growing together and supporting one another for years to come.”

Popular Sports Sponsorships

Sports sponsorships have always been a massive marketing tool for financial services companies. Several brokers have inked major sponsorship deals with sports teams just to get their branding in front of millions of global fans.

Rugby is a very popular sport in New Zealand and CMC, through its partnership with Blues, is trying to accelerate its growth in the country.

“Backing the team for another three years contributes to CMC Markets’ history of supporting talented Kiwis who strive for success in their chosen fields, and we’re excited to see what the 2023 and beyond seasons hold for the iconic Kiwi sports team,” said Chris Smith, the General Manager of CMC Markets New Zealand.

“The Blues have a loyal fanbase that enjoy immersing themselves in every part of the sport including analyzing game stats. Similarly at CMC, we pride ourselves in providing our clients with the most up to date technology and data to inform their trading decisions on the markets.”
