After Nevada, Delaware, and most famously New Jersey, Colorado will be exploring the option of legalizing online gaming in the state.
For some time now, Colorado lawmakers have been drafting a legislation to allow live interactive poker tables to the residents of the state.
Lawmakers met with representatives from Pinnacle Entertainment, who owns the largest physical casino in the state, Ameristar Black Hawk, to work out the legal and technical implications needed. Currently there is no final draft of the law, but those involved are said to be monitoring the idea of legalized internet gaming closely by looking at the already legal states. Most signs point to a possible launch some time in 2014.
"Internet gaming continues to evolve state-by-state, and through ever-changing technology. With respect to Colorado, when there is a piece of legislation to review, we can make decisions based on whether or not participation will be beneficial to the company." Added Troy Stremming, Executive Vice President of Government Relations for Pinnacle Entertainment.
With Nevada, Delaware, New Jersey, and the US Virgin Islands legalized offering, the idea of legalized interstate gaming throughout the country may not be as farfetched as some may have led to believe.
We will be reporting on Colorado’s internet gaming laws once more information is provided.
