eBay CEO to advise US President on international trade

eBay CEO John Donahoe will be working closely with US President Barak Obama on issues regarding international trade.

President Obama appointed Donahoe to the Presidential Export Council. This is not Donahoe’s first foray into politics, as he served as a member of the White House Council for Community Solutions between 2010 and 2012.

Donahoe will advise President Obama on programs and policies that affect US trade.

In addition, since eBay is one of the main marketplaces in the US, Donahoe will also advise the President on ways to increase cross border opportunities for businesses using eBay’s platform.

“The face of global trade is changing, and it’s exciting that in today’s digitally connected world, businesses of all sizes are exporting and helping grow the American economy.” Donahoe added on his new advisory role.

Donahoe new position is one of several new appointments announced by the White House to serve on The President’s Export Council. The Council will advise President Obama on policies and programs that can affect US trade performance and the promotion of export expansion. The Council will also act as a forum to discuss and resolve trade related issues throughout business, agricultural, industrial, labor, and government sectors.

“I am grateful that these talented and dedicated individuals have agreed to take on these important roles and devote their talents to serving the American people. I look forward to working with them in the coming months and years.” President Obama added on the newly appointed council.
