eToro, the soon-to-be publicly-listed Israeli broker, announced on Thursday the signing of a three-year sponsorship deal with Rugby Australia, further expanding its vast sports sponsorship portfolio.
The latest deal has ensured that the Multi-Asset brokerage to be the naming rights partner for all inbound Tests, including The Rugby Championship and Wallabies partner. Additionally, the eToro logo will feature on all official branding of the team and on the back right of shorts on the Wallaby kit.
The deal between the two will last till the end of 2023.
eToro first tied up with Rugby Australia last year to sponsor the 2020 Tri Nations, which saw the participation of teams from Argentina, New Zealand and Australia. The tournament was renamed as South Africa pulled out due to concerns over player welfare.
Commenting on the sponsorship, eToro’s Australian Managing Director, Robert Francis, said: “Australia is an important market for the eToro Group, and so I'm delighted we are partnering once again with the Wallabies.”
Taping the Sports Fans
The broker elaborated that its intention with the sponsorship deal is to tap into the community behind the team. It will offer free services and educational content to fans, luring them to the retail investment platform.
“We've seen an influx of Aussie retail investors into financial markets over the past 12 months, and it's crucial that we provide enough education to arm them with the tools they need to build their wealth for the long term. Our vision is to open the global markets to everyone, and we see this partnership as an opportunity to reach the fans behind the team and get more people interested in investing,” Francis added.
With over 20 million global customers, eToro runs massive Marketing campaigns globally and sports sponsorships are a crucial part of it. The brokerage is sponsoring six Premier League clubs in Britain alone, with another six Bundesliga clubs in Germany.
“We're incredibly excited to extend our relationship with eToro following the hugely successful eToro Tri-Nations in 2020,” said Andy Marinos, CEO at Rugby Australia. “eToro's user base continues to grow at a rapid rate and we want to assist that during our partnership over the next three years, and hopefully long into the future.”
