Japanese foreign Exchange broking giant Gaitame has reported its comprehensive trading metrics for the month ending December 2017, which continued to illustrate a growing number of accounts and other key volumes figures. However, the company’s trading volumes incurred a sizable decline both on a monthly and yearly basis.

In terms of client accounts, Gaitame saw a total of 448,056 in December 2017, a marginal move of less than 1.0 percent month-over-month from 445,917 accounts in November 2017, or a net increase of 2,139 accounts during the month. The latest monthly figures at Gaitame have now built on a string of consecutive performances, which have climbed in every month of this year, rising 2.8 percent year-on-year, as well as striking an all-time high.
Looking at the group’s deposit totals in December 2017, Gaitame disclosed a figure of $1.06 billion (¥117.05 billion), virtually unchanged month-over-month from $1.05 billion (¥116.8 billion) worth of deposits in November 2017. As was the case with the number of accounts at the broker, the latest figures notched fresh highs at Gaitame in 2017 and have risen 4.3 percent from ¥112.2 billion in December 2016.
In terms of Gaitame’s trading volumes, the company’s metrics lost a lot of ground. The latest readings show a figure of $1.13 billion (¥125.6 billion) for the month, down 33 percent on a month-over-month basis from $1.70 billion (¥188.1 billion) in November 2017. Indeed, December’s volumes are a ways off from the broker’s peak of $2.93 billion (¥321.3 billion) set back in January 2017, which is a drop of 61.0 percent.
