MetaQuotes has announced that it is launching its application market for the MetaTrader 4 platform. Available until now on only the MT5 platform, the new marketplace provides MT4 developers the opportunity to offer their EA’s and programs directly to MT4 users. The marketplace is currently in its beta mode with a full rollout expected later this year. During the beta period, developers can begin the process of applying to sell on the market. Upon launch, the marketplace will appear as a tab on the MetaTrader 4 platform where traders can purchases EAs and tools directly from the platform.
The news is part of an ongoing evolvement from MetaQuotes as it aims to become an important distributor of products that are being developed around its MetaTrader platform. Similar to the MT5 marketplace, the MT4 offering will run in conjunction with the firm’s MQL5.COM user network. While initially being created to serve the MT5 platform and users, the website is quickly becoming an integrated forum and community for both the MT4 and 5 platforms. In addition, the front end differences between the two platforms is diminishing, with MetaQuotes announcing recently that it is adding features from the MQL5 language to MQL4. According to the firm, those changes will take place by the end of August.
In addition to the front end app stores, MetaQuotes is also working on establishing a server side marketplace, for its broker clients to purchase approved third party plugins, software, and services. That product is expected to be launched towards the end of the year.
