Well, that didn’t take long. After implementing a ‘chat’ function on its MT5 iPhone app, MetaQuotes has released the same function for MT4. In the comments to last week’s post about MT5 we figured a MT4 version was coming out soon, so this is less than surprising. Still wondering though why they don’t just initiate identical build updates simultaneously for both MT4/5.
Some details about the MT4 version. The new messaging service connects with both MT4/5 users, thereby easily expanding the messaging network’s reach for MT5 users. In last week’s post we mentioned how the service may get hacked by IB’s and brokers targeting new clients. On this concern, along with many similar comments made on the article, MetaQuotes responded that users only ID numbers and not names or other account details. They also altered the current MT4 update on their site to be clearer about the IDs and stated “Each user receives MetaQuotes ID when installing the mobile version of the terminal. It may look like this: 8B4E6A3D, or like this: F7ACA7F2. You can find your ID in Settings->Messages section.”
In addition, you can take a look between the two news releases from MetaQuotes for MT4 & MT5 and will also see the example messages have been changed. From the earlier quotes of “Hello Alexander, tell us a little about yourself” which just screamed ‘Poach Me!!!’ to “Do you use correlations of the two pairs in your strategy.”
Even with the IDs, it doesn’t seem too hard for a good sales/marketer to solicit new clients with something along the lines of “Yes, doing well with this strategy, give me your email and I’ll send you all the details.”
