Premiership Rugby, an English professional rugby union league, announced today (Thursday) a new sponsorship deal with eToro, a popular trading and investment platform. The sponsorship agreement will take effect from the next match season.
This partnership allows Premiership Rugby to tap into a rapidly-growing demographic of retail investors and eToro's strong UK registered user base of 3.7 million.
eToro and Premiership Rugby Sign Partnership Deal
The collaboration with eToro marks a strategic milestone for Premiership Rugby, offering them a chance to reach new, diverse audiences. As part of the agreement, eToro branding will be displayed at all matches and through on-screen graphics on ITV, a regional UK TV network.
Additionally, eToro will sponsor 'Premiership Predictor', an insight-driven results prediction feature by Premiership Rugby that appears on screen and in social media graphics ahead of games.
"eToro has a proven commitment to sports sponsorship, and we are thrilled to kickstart this relationship with one of the leading trading platforms," Mark Brittain, the Chief Commercial Officer at Premiership Rugby, stated. "This partnership will see Premiership Rugby reach exciting new audiences as our league continues to attract the next generation of fans to our sport."
Echoing Brittain's sentiment, Stephanie Wilks-Wiffen, the Director of Marketing at eToro, commented on the partnership's significance for the platform. She underscored that the alliance with Premiership Rugby aligns with eToro's community-focused ethos.
"Working with such a prestigious and high profile partner as Premiership Rugby means more exposure and hopefully, greater participation for both parties," Wilks-Wiffen added.
eToro and Premiership Rugby will launch a social media competition to celebrate the new partnership and engage their audiences. The contest will offer the chance to win four tickets to next year's Gallagher Premiership Rugby Final.
eToro Bets on Promotion through Sports
For eToro, the latest sponsorship deal signed with the English rugby league is one of many it has made over recent years with sports teams and athletes. Although we have not heard about too many new deals from the social trading platform this year, in 2022, it extended its contract with AS Monaco, a popular football club in Europe.
At the same time, eToro established a collaboration with Powerleague. The deal, launched by Joe Cole, ambassador of eToro and a former English footballer, will provide equipment to thousands of netball players.
In 2021, the broker signed a sponsorship agreement with Lechia Gdańsk, a club regularly participating in the Polish football top league. A year earlier, it struck as many as twelve deals with football clubs from the UK and Germany. Among them were English teams from Crystal Palace, Everton, Leicester City, and Southampton. In Germany, the company invested in Augsburg, 1. FC Cologne, Hamburger SV (Bundesliga 2), Union Berlin, and Vfl Wolfsburg.
Brokers investing in sports sponsorship is not just about raising brand awareness. It's also about trading companies building credibility, enhancing customer engagement, and gaining access to new markets. A greater reach through social media and fostering positive relationships are also important.
