Eelco David Vos, eToro’s Regional Manager for the Netherlands and the Nordic Region announced the agreement on Wednesday through a LinkedIn post. However, the executive did not provide any details about the parties' expectations.
“With innovation and team spirit, AZ has conquered its place at the apex position of Dutch football. This approach is in line with eToro's philosophy: challenging the established order by being open to new ideas and daring to experiment. By learning from each other, we make investing accessible to everyone," Vos wrote in the LinkedIn post announcing the deal.
“We admire AZ's ability to reinvent itself every year by investing in young talent and giving them the confidence to grow,” the Regional Manager mentioned in a statement published on the club’s website, which was translated to English from Dutch.
The new collaboration with the Dutch club is the third sports sponsorship deal eToro has signed this year. On Monday, the Israeli social trading and investment firm marked its first entry into the world of basketball by becoming the new official sponsor of Baskonia, a professional Spanish basketball club.
The firm also recently inked a deal to sponsor the next season of Premiership Rugby, an English professional rugby union league. The agreement is part of eToro’s efforts to expand its investment in UK sports sponsorships.
In addition, eToro with the new partnership expanded its sports sponsorship portfolio that includes several football clubs. The investment firm’s existing deals include more than 17 teams spread across the English Premier League, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, and Rugby Australia. Last year, the firm extended its sports deal with AS Monaco, a popular football club in Europe.
Speaking about the new agreement, Michael Koster, the Commercial Director of AZ Alkmaar, expressed confidence in the partnership’s potential to contribute to the development of both parties.
“I am pleased that eToro will be closely involved with our club for the next two years," Koster noted. "Like AZ, eToro values community and continuously improves people and their performance through innovative solutions."
