OANDA Global Corporation announced the launch of its European operations from Poland under the supervisory of the KNF, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (PFSA).

OANDA Launches Services from Poland

The broker now offers services in the European Union with OANDA TMS Brokers SA, which has a registered office in Warsaw. The establishment of the new European base came as OANDA closed its operations in Malta as a strategic decision.

"This is an exciting new chapter and a significant growth opportunity for OANDA in the EU. We want to serve the client in the best way possible, so we made the decision to base our operations in Poland," said OANDA's Head of Europe, Marcin Niewiadomski. "This was a natural choice, as it will enable us to build the OANDA brand on the strengths of OANDA TMS."

OANDA's secured its plans to operate from Poland after completing the acquisition of a 100 percent share of Polish broker Dom Maklerski TMS Brokers S.A. (TMS Brokers), which has now been rebranded as OANDA TMS. Established in 1997, TMS was the oldest and second-largest local Polish brokerage, which ForeVest Capital had earlier owned.

Moving European Base

Earlier, OANDA revealed its intentions to stop offering services under the Maltese subsidiary and move to Poland to "consolidate its operations" in Europe under OANDA TMS.

"Now, thanks to our refocused operations, investors and traders in the EU can easily access an extensive multi-asset proposition with the knowledge that they are partnering with a trusted, award-winning, and regulated broker," Niewiadomski added.

OANDA entered the forex trading business in 1996 and now operates globally in all major markets. Apart from the Polish base, the broker is licensed in other countries, including the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. It is one of a handful of brokers legally offering currency trading in the US.

Meanwhile, OANDA is focusing on the rapidly growing cryptocurrency market. Last year, it partnered with blockchain firm Paxos to launch a crypto trading service in the United States.

Additionally, the broker strengthened its leadership with a few key appointments last year. It onboarded Galin Georgiev, a former Prime XM executive, as the Head of Product Operations. Furthermore, it added Jessica Beckstead, who spent 18 years at FXCM, as the Managing Director for North America and its Chief Executive Officer for the US.
