Anthony Constantinou, whose company’s atmosphere was likened by British tabloids to The Wolf of Wall Street movie, was leading the effort at a company which was reported by the London Police to have misappropriated £50 million pounds. In what was allegedly a Ponzi Scheme , CWM was targeting the Gurkha and Nepalese communities in London with an investment scheme that was promising to return investors 5% monthly.
CWM had been the focus of law enforcement officials for most of 2015, after police raided the offices of CWM at Heron Tower in March, arresting ten men and three women employed at the foreign Exchange brokerage arm of the firm.
Commenting to British press, Anna Rice from the City of London Police's Public Protection Unit said: "Each of these assaults represented an extremely unpleasant ordeal for the victims and we hope that today's verdict can go some small way to offering them a sense that justice has been served. Constantinou clearly thought that his demeaning, intimidating behaviour was acceptable and today's sentence has shown this is simply not the case."
According to the court hearing, Constantinou forced himself upon a woman against the frosted glass of the reception area at the company’s premises, groped her and kissed her against her will. This was documented to have occurred in October 2014.
In February 2015, Constantinou violently assaulted another woman during an after-work drinks gathering, throwing her phone against a wall.
Constantinou was also cleared of one further count of sexual assault at his trial in October. The jury did not reach a decision on a further three charges although the prosecution has said it will not to seek a retrial.
Anthony is the son of well-known London businessman, Aristos Constantinou, who was a victim of the unsolved 'Silver Bullet murder', which took place on New Year's Day 1985.
