The company's web services are amongst the most widely adopted in the world. Amazon is reporting “high error rates” in a particular section of its S3 web services, which is cascading onto other services of the company. Various web services appear to be most affected in the US East region.

The Verge reports that a number of web-based applications like Trello, Quora, IFTTT, and Splitwise are affected by the outage.

At the time of publication no reports about substantial disruptions to the services of major brokerages have been received by Finance Magnates.

"We’ve identified the issue as high error rates with S3 in US-EAST-1, which is also impacting applications and services dependent on S3. We are actively working on remediating the issue," Amazon said in a statement.

Several website that are used to check the online status of web severs also appear to have been affected by the issue. As of 02:42 PM EST (07:42 PM GMT) the services have not been restored and the outage has lasted for over an hour.

Similar outages in the past have been short lived with Amazon's webs services affecting websites like Instagram, Vine, and IMDb.
