Metaquotes Updates MT5 Platform to Include Upgrades from Previous Versions

Metaquotes has announced that a new version of its Metatrader 5 platform is to be released. Older versions of the platform on both desktop and mobile will not support the updated release, and therefore will not be able to connect to new server versions. The company has urged users to update older terminals in advance of the release in order to avoid Connectivity issues.

The newest version of the MT5 platform will enable the creation of synthetic instruments that can be composed of one or more existing instruments. Once a formula is set for price calculation, “the platform calculates ticks at a frequency of 10 times per second, provided that the price of at least one of the instruments used in the formula has changed.”

A chart will be created for the synthetic instrument, creating bars (each bar for 1 minute or more) based on price ticks received by the system. “All new bars (current and subsequent ones) of the synthetic instrument are created based on generated ticks.” The newest update also enable the option of editing the tick history of synthetic instruments. Ticks of synthetic instruments can be inserted, deleted, and/or edited at the user’s request.

In addition, the upgraded version of MT5 will include “High” and “Low” prices of each instrument within the “Market Watch” section within the trading terminal. These prices show the highest and lowest prices of each asset for the current trading day. The feature will be disabled by default, and can be enabled by a right-click on the highlighted instrument, and selecting “High/Low” from within the “Columns” section in the window that opens.

Precision is Key

In an effort to provide more precise data to its users, Metaquotes has also added the display of time in milliseconds. Since many ticks are processed by the system simultaneously, it often occurs that several prices of an instrument would appear in the same time second within the tick chart. The addition of milliseconds allows for a much more accurate portrayal of ticks received in real time, which is enhanced during times of increased market Volatility .

Metaquotes has developed one of the most popular trading platforms in the financial industry. As more brokers are adding the Metatrader 5 to their lists of trading platforms, the company continues to make improvements the accommodate the needs of its clients, by implementing changes that are critical to the proper functionality of the software applications. Earlier this year, Metaquotes released a newer version of MT5 for iOS.
