Ben Bernanke Assumes Role of Senior Advisor at Citadel Investment Group

Ben Bernanke, the former Federal Reserve chairman, has joined hedge fund Citadel Investment Group as its newest Senior Adviser, according to a Business Insider statement.

This is the second announcement in as many months surrounding the former Fed chairman. Last month, Mr. Benanke decided to become the first retired top monetary policy maker to enter the blogging realm, dealing with such topics as economics, finance and baseball.

In his new role at Citadel Investment Group, Mr. Bernanke will be advising the hedge fund on a number of global economic and financial issues, and will frequently travel internationally to meet with investors.

The agreement between him and Citadel is non-exclusive, however, he does still plan to remain a full-time fellow at the Brookings Institution. Additionally, there has been no indication of a cessation of his recently launched blog.

Mr. Bernanke is the latest in a string of former federal officials to make the transition to investment business – this includes Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, White House Chief of Staff William M. Daley, and CIA director David H. Petraeus.
