CME Group, one of the industry’s largest derivatives marketplace, recorded an all time record high volume earlier this week on November 23rd, 2016 across its total open interest, per a company statement.

On Wednesday, CME Group reported a total open interest record of 116,999,368 contracts, besting an earlier record of 116,427,935 contracts set back on June 9th, 2016. The daily surge in volumes was also extended to open interest at CME Group, having yielded a record of 69,493,548 contracts – the previous record had been set just one day earlier with 68,147,202 contracts.

The uptick in volumes took place during a shortened week with the United States observing the Thanksgiving holiday. The past few months have also seen a surge in volumes at CME Group with the US election also causing a dramatic boost that saw record figures across several assets and instrument offerings.
