Frankfurt-based exchange Eurex Exchange announced that it saw a significant year-on-year increase in its derivatives trading volumes this October.

In a statement released on Friday, the Exchange emphasized that it had seen a huge uptick in Equities index derivatives trading when it compared its results from last month to October of 2017.

Eurex Exchange reported a total trading volume of 52.2 million equity index derivatives contracts in October of 2017.

This year, the exchange operator was able to increase that number to 96.2 million contracts - an 83 percent year-on-year increase.

In the European equity derivatives market, the firm also saw impressive growth, albeit less impressive than in the equity index derivatives market.
