The Taiwan Futures Exchange reported trading volumes for January to October, which show that the average daily trades (ADV) in the period surpassed the one million mark, reaching 1.09 million contracts, the bourse said in a statement. The overall trading volumes came in at 215.65 million contracts.
TAIEX Options Lead Parade
The most notable growth was registered by the exchangeβs Mini-TAEX Futures, where trades expanded by 68 percent from a year earlier. The TAIEX Futures products of Taifex booked an increase of 43 percent, and trade in TAIEX Options rose by 40 percent.
In October alone, the Mini-TAEX Futures accounted for 9.3 percent of overall trades, TAIEX Futures contributed 13.2 percent, and TAIEX Options led the parade by contributing 69.3 percent of all trades during the period.
The exchange noted that the performance of Forex futures denominated in renminbi was very promising, believing that these products will become a driving force for the overall growth of Taifex. The forex futures contracts β USD/CNT and USD/CNH β were introduced in late July this year, and on the first day of trading, the two generated a combined volume of 5,290 contracts, Automated Trader reported at the time.
