An announcement made by one of the leading operators of exchanges in a variety of assets, BATS Global Markets, reveals a new senior executive hire. The company on-boarded Laura Morrison as Senior Vice President and Global Head of Exchange -Traded Products.
The move continues the push of BATS into the Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) business. The company led the way in March, holding 25.2% of the ETF market in the U.S. followed by the NYSE and Nasdaq with 20.9% and 14.9%.
Mrs Morrison brings to the company 20 years of experience as an industry leader at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Over the years, she served as NYSE’s Senior Vice President, Global Index and Exchange-Traded Products. She’s been leading the team which managed ETF listings and trading as well as the NYSE index business.
Commenting in the announcement, the Executive Vice President and Head of U.S. Markets at BATS, Bryan Harkins, said, “We’ve long held Laura in high esteem as a thought leader and we are excited she’s joining the team with the mission of making BATS the #1 global ETF listings marketplace.”

Working at the NYSE, Ms. Morrison played a leading role in bringing new and innovative ETF products to the market. During her tenure as senior executive, the company’s ETF issuer base has grown to record numbers.
Mrs Morrison will be joining the BATS team at the company’s office in lower Manhattan and will be reporting to Bryan Harkins.
