The push for optimized HTML5 charting capabilities has resulted in continued efforts to bolster existing platform technology. Financial information specialist FactSet has entered into a strategic partnership with ChartIQ, tapping the group to enhance its web, desktop, and mobile platforms in a newly defined toolkit.

FactSet’s upgraded HTML5 toolkit will look to strengthen several components of its users’ workflow, enabling the management of their respective data as well as report building and commercial data aggregation. The group selected ChartIQ given its diverse HTML5 software suite that includes an easily transferable proprietary toolkit.

Standardized interface

The partnership is important as it will also see ChartIQ streamline FactSet’s HTML5 charting technology interface, including the deployment of a new toolkit across its web, desktop, and mobile platforms. The reliance on a more standardized framework will also enable FactSet to roll out additional charting technology updates and build its product portfolio faster, given the obvious challenges associated with multiple platform interfaces.

Bilal Dinc, Vice President, Core Products, FactSet, commented on the partnership: “I am particularly excited about this relationship as it significantly accelerates the time to market of critical financial charting features that were otherwise in FactSet’s multi-year product roadmap. ChartIQ offers a professional grade HTML5 charting product that FactSet’s clients can benefit from immediately as it is integrated across our platform.”

“Working with companies that are as committed to modern frameworks and innovation as FactSet excited us because of the immediate impact it has on the industry and individual users. FactSet is demonstrating that HTML5 is a leading technology for cutting-edge financial platforms today that can be leveraged across web, desktop, and mobile platforms. This ultimately Leads to better products, a better user experience, and happier customers - a win-win for everyone involved,” added Dan Schleifer, CEO of ChartIQ.

This is the second development at ChartIQ in as many months, given its recent release of desktop framework, Finsemble. The new utility is layered into OpenFin’s operating platform, which was designed to assist users to build advanced HTML5 financial desktop applications.
