Monex Group Unveils New Changes to Senior Management

The Monex Group, a financial services company based in Japan, announced today (Monday) about several personnel changes among its subsidiaries, including securities broker Monex, Inc., and the cryptocurrency trading platform , Coincheck.

According to the company’s statement, several senior executives will see some changes to their roles and responsibilities. Namely, Yuko Seimei would lead the executive team as the President, Representative Executive Officer, and CEO, while Oki Matsumoto will oversee the entire group as the Chairman and Representative Executive Officer.

Monex’s Changes in Management

Currently, Seimei still serves as the Representative Executive Officer and Co-CEO, while at this time Matsumoto is the President, Representative Executive Officer and CEO. The new changes would be effective June 24, 2023, the company said.

Furthermore, Naoyuki Kainuma, currently serving as the Executive Director, Strategic Assistant to CEO, General Manager of the Audit Committee Office, has been elevated to the role of an Expert Director, Assistant to the Executive Chairman of the Board, General Manager of the Audit Committee Office.

The General Managers, Akiko Kato, and Tomokazu Furukawa, would be elevated to executive directors effective July 1, 2023, the group noted. Kato and Furukawa currently serve as General Manager of the Corporate Communications Office, and General Manager of the Finance Department, respectively.

Besides the personnel changes, Monex, Inc. would undergo some organizational changes. The subsidiary would establish an AI Service Promotion Office. Moreover, the subsidiary would also integrate Wealth Management Promotion Office into Wealth Management Department to target high-net-worth clients.

In light of the same, Atsushi Mandai has been appointed as the General Manager of the AI Services Promotion Office. On the other hand, the current General Manager of the Wealth Management Promotion Office, Yutaka Masushima, will serve as General Manager of the Marketing Department.

Taking a look at Coincheck, Inc., a cryptocurrency exchange and Bitcoin wallet managed by the group, Tomoyuki Isaka would cease being the Senior Executive Director of the Crypto Business Development Division effective July 1, 2023, and would instead serve as the Deputy President and Executive Director in the same division.

As for Monex AssetManagement, Inc., as of June 16, Naho Nakajima, the Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director, and Harumi Katsumata, the current Corporate Auditor, have both resigned from their respective roles. However, Naoyuki Kainuma and Hisashi Tanaami, who are new hires, will take over as Managing Director and Corporate Auditor, respectively.

Over at Japan Catalyst, Inc., the subsidiary has promoted Takahiro Kusakari from the position of Portfolio Manager to becoming the new Director, Co-President and Portfolio Manager, effective June 22. On the other hand, Monex Private Bank will simultaneously welcome a new Member to the Board, Shoji Kuwashima.
