For its part, ResearchPool’s newly designed solution caters to investment firms, helping them better reconcile transitions and challenges under the new regulations. This will include a focus on managing budgets, spending, overseeing the consumption and evaluation of research, which the group has called Tool for Research Usage and Evaluation (TRUE). TRUE is marketed as a proprietary solution to enable investment firms to better manage and control their research spending and usage of investment strategies, with regard to a newly defined regulatory playing field.

All Eyes on January

MiFID II regulations will have a profound effect on the financial services industry, and will include updating in-house operation and infrastructures to clearing regimes and other forms of Execution . Ahead of January 2018, this has led to a growing demand in turn for technology and solutions providers to develop new tools and frameworks that are better adapted to the new regulatory regime.

TRUE is fully compliant with MiFID II regulations and operates as a Cloud -compatible, single point to manage budgets and spending, funded by P&L and Research Payment Accounts (RPAs). This is important as the new solution can also help shore up any gaps of functionality for legacy systems, thereby providing more streamlined tracking for research spending, usage and ratings, which can be purchased through the ResearchPool marketplace.

TRUE also builds on ResearchPool’s existing services suite, which presently includes a comprehensive marketplace for all types of research, touching on multiple asset classes and segments – this includes equities, fixed income, credit, SRI, and macro.

Pedro Fernandes

Pedro Fernandes, co-founder and CEO of ResearchPool, commented: “TRUE provides a powerful solution that simplifies the complexities of managing research resources in the upcoming unbundled world. By improving sourcing, spending and the valuation process for research, investment firms will be better aligned with the interests of their end-clients and raise the overall quality of the research offering efficiently.”
