Although many firms are aware of MiFID II obligations, at least to ensure compliance with upcoming requirements, if their employees don't fully understand its implications firms will fail to realize the true value of its ongoing adoption. Additionally, a company that was educated the effective methods of using the compliance solution will be sure that the most effective compliance processes are in place.

Reuters’ compliance education suite provides practical, interactive, and cost-effective compliance training courses that assist in supporting a culture of ongoing MiFID II compliance and clarify the complexity of the legislation.

Thomson Reuters' e-learning product also provides organizations with an arsenal of compliance learning content, which has been developed to cover four main areas. The first package targets the buy-side and provides a concise view of the impact on the sector’s core categories such as best Execution and how different trading venues are defined, among many other tasks.

The company has also developed a dedicated course for the sell-side firms which offers deep insights about many relevant issues such as high-frequency trading and market making. In turn, the MiFID II Market Structure course explains the new trading venue types allowed after MiFID II takes effect, and the key differences in the operation of these trading venues.

Finally, the MiFID II International Reach course focuses on ‎the wide-ranging impacts of MiFID II outside of the European Union on trading, regulation and governance.

A Thomson Reuters spokesman commenting on the news: “The stark reality is that many institutions are not fully aware of all their MiFID II obligations and therefore do not yet have the most effective compliance processes in place. Our MiFID II e-learning courses address the many questions we repeatedly hear from our customers, which are not only relevant for the firms themselves, but also apply to the individual employees of those firms. We remain committed to providing a clear and effective comprehensive suite of solutions that make a measurable difference in enabling our customers to meet new and ongoing regulations. Our e-learning suite is the latest demonstrated step along that journey.”
