Ah, the enigmatic allure of AI, captivating minds like never before! Or at least it has been since OpenAI and ChatGPT burst onto the scene. But, businesses of all sorts are looking to jump on the automation train.
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI ) platforms such as ChatGPT and Google Bard have stepped out of the shadows, waltzing into the limelight of mainstream consciousness, and businesses are having their heads turned by tantalizing new means to supercharge daily productivity. How do we know this? Well, creative agency marketplace platform DesignRush has just released findings from its research into AI-related Google search terms between 2021 and 2023.
The Rise of the Image
Searches for “AI image generator" reign supreme with 1.22 million monthly searches, according to DesignRush. This strongly suggests that businesses are looking for design support, or possibly materials for websites or social media content. Likewise, logos, video and website creation tools were much sought after, with "AI logo generator" generating 165,000 average monthly searches, a 508% YoY change, and "AI website builder" with 40,500 searches and a 1,937% YoY change.
A Eulogy for Chatbots and Content Kings
But, surprisingly, it’s not all upwards for artificial intelligence. DesignRush reports that "AI chatbot" searches dwindle, perhaps a nod to the eternal quest for authentic human interaction and the need for quality content. Or, perhaps people have found their preferred platform and they’re sticking to it?
What is clear is that people are increasingly aware of the presence of artificial intelligence when it comes to text. Anecdotally, as I content creator I am endlessly asked about the impact of artificial intelligence on my work and people tell me that they can “tell” that something they’ve read online is AI-generated. Admittedly, it’s a small personal sample size, but perhaps this suggests that companies might want to move away from machine-made content for the time being.
Niche Realms: Where Brilliance Blossoms
However, one area that’s most certainly on the rise is what DesignRush refers to as “niche” products. AI voice generators have seen a 644% increase, website builders a huge 1,937% surge, and searches for customer service tools have grown by 128%. This perhaps reflects a growing sophistication in the needs of businesses. AI text creation tools are all well and good, they’re famous, but perhaps companies are beginning to explore more advanced uses for AI.
Operations and Data
Terms such as "AI business plan generator" and "AI data entry," are lagging behind the rest. However, they are growing very quickly. While, according to DesignRush, they sat at only 1,600 and 140 searches, respectively, those numbers represent growth of 511% and 271%. The increase in "AI business plan generator", alongside the growth in more sophisticated areas such as video again suggest that businesses are seeking more demanding or complex roles for the software. This is supported by the increase in popularity for terms including "AI presentation maker" (4,483%) and "AI website builder" (1,937%); these are creative and potentially demanding domains.
In terms of fintech , we’ve seen central banks embrace machine learning, the systems being leveraged to improve customer security and much, much more. However, many tech firms are also asking how these new technologies can find a place within fintech, and that’s something that is not entirely clear.
What is clear is that artificial intelligence is very clearly coming to trading.
Takeaways
While 2023 was most definitely the year of the content generator, generative AI has a long way to go and far more to offer. “Every day, we’re relying on AI more and more, handing it increasingly complex tasks. It's a magical era, so to say. With this tech, we can quickly see what's hitting the mark and what's not and adjust our plans in real time to make sure we're on point. We're gearing up for a future where we can anticipate our customers' needs before they even realize them themselves. Plus, with it crunching all that data, we'll always have our finger on the pulse of the latest trends,” said Gianluca Ferruggia, General Manager at DesignRush.
What is certain is that the uses businesses are finding for this tech are becoming ever more complex, or rather the demand for advanced capabilities is growing. The technology’s ability to instantly generate outputs is outstanding, be it instant keyword research, website generation, code writing or land page creation, it’s just the beginning.
